About the course

Production Fundamentals is the course I wish I'd had when I started. Instead of chasing tips and tricks, it builds one complete skill at a time — arrangement, sound selection, mixing, and the mindset to actually finish — and ties them together by walking through a real track from empty session to master. No prior experience assumed; just a DAW and a willingness to make bad songs on the way to good ones.

Why I built it

After a few years of mentoring, I noticed I was giving the same four explanations in almost every first session. Not advanced techniques — foundational things nobody had ever laid out in order: how arrangement actually works, why a mix sounds small, what "finished" means. The course exists so that paid one-to-one time can be spent on someone's specific music instead of re-teaching the same groundwork.

The challenge

Most production courses teach features. You finish forty lessons knowing what every compressor knob does and still can't finish a song, because the actual bottleneck was never technical. The design problem was building a curriculum that teaches judgement — when to use something, and when to leave it alone — which is far harder to structure than a tour of a DAW's menus.

How it's structured

  • One track, start to finish. The whole course follows a single real song from empty session to master, so every lesson lands in a context the student can hear.
  • Exercises with wrong answers. Each module ends with a task that has a specific failure mode, and a walkthrough of what that failure sounds like and how to diagnose it.
  • Project files included. Students get the actual session at each stage, so they can compare their attempt against mine rather than guessing.
  • Finishing taught explicitly. The final module is about scope, deadlines, and perfectionism — the part most courses omit entirely, and the part that decides whether anyone ever releases anything.

What you'll learn

  • Turning a single idea into a full arrangement that holds attention
  • Choosing and shaping sounds so a mix sits right before you mix it
  • A repeatable mixing workflow — gain staging, EQ, compression, space
  • Finishing habits: scope, deadlines, and beating perfectionism
